Our story began in an old inn, where a group of colleagues had stopped for a lunch. At the end of our meal, we decided to have a coffee at the bar.

Our attention was immediately caught by the owner who was skilfully preparing the coffee with a machine, coaxing a smooth, autumnal cream into the tiny cups.
After taking a sip, one of us exclaimed:
“There's nothing like a good cup of coffee”.
“Gentlemen”, the owner piped up, “not even the finest blend will make good coffee unless you use the best machine”.
“Well, let's make one, then!”, said Fabio, ever the businessman.
So in 1999 his remark gave us the idea, the will, and challenged us to recreate moments like the one at the bar.
